Search Logan County Civil Court Dockets

Need a hearing date or a filed judgment in Logan County? The Combined Courts clerk holds the official records, and a Logan County civil court docket search is the fastest first step. One caution: the docket calendar shows settings, not the whole file. Civil work is split between District Court and County Court by jurisdiction and case type, yet both answer to the same clerk. A case number, party name, attorney, date, or court filter will narrow the docket search. When the calendar alone is too thin, ask the clerk for the register of actions or for a filed judgment, order, or petition to get the full event history.

Logan County Civil Docket Class Codes

Class letters tell you where a Logan County civil case sits. They also hint at what it concerns. CV usually means a District Court civil case. County Court limited civil work carries C. Small claims carry S. Domestic relations is DR. Probate is PR. Pair the letter with the court name. The code routes your docket search, but it says nothing about the dispute, the relief sought, or any final ruling.

2026C456
A sample limited civil format associated with County Court.
2026S78
A sample small-claims format. Do not assume a fixed sequence length.
DR and PR
Domestic-relations and probate classes, where access to some records or content may be limited.

A blank result can mean many things. The class may be wrong, the date off, or there may be no upcoming setting, and access limits can also hide a case. An empty Logan County docket search never proves a civil file does not exist.

Civil Dockets: What They Show

The free docket calendar keeps things lean. You get the date, start time, scheduled duration, case display and number, hearing type, Logan location, appearance type, and courtroom. That is far less than a complete civil register of actions, which can show the case header and status, party roles, attorneys, filing and event dates, minute orders, settings, judgment or disposition, and financial entries. The calendar also skips pleadings. It will not explain the merits of a motion.

Case numberYear, civil class, and numeric sequence.
PartiesPlaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent, as the case uses those roles.
EventsDated filings, service-related entries, motions, orders, settings, and minute orders.
JudgmentThe ROA may note it, but the signed Order for Judgment gives the authoritative terms.
Post-judgmentActivity may include a Transcript of Judgment or Satisfaction of Judgment.

Read docket entries with care. A motion asks the court for a ruling; an order is the court's answer. Assuming a motion was granted is a classic mistake.

Logan County Civil Docket Jurisdiction

Which court level takes a Logan County civil case? It depends on the money at stake. Colorado's official County Court guidance assigns civil claims under $25,000, small claims, protection orders, and a few other limited matters to County Court. District Court picks up everything else. That includes civil suits for any amount, plus domestic relations, probate, juvenile, and mental-health cases.

Logan County runs both levels through one Combined Courts location. So a single state docket search and one clerk's office cover the whole civil docket, even when the court level changes.

For the exact jurisdiction breakdown, see the Judicial Branch County Court jurisdiction page. It spells out what each level hears.

That official page explains the split. A CV matter and a small-claims S matter can share a courthouse yet sit on entirely different court dockets.

What Cases Fill the Civil Docket

Several distinct tracks fill the Logan County civil court docket. Fiscal-year 2024 County Court figures show 467 civil filings in Logan County. The breakdown: 281 money claims, 98 forcible-entry-and-detainer matters, 60 domestic-abuse protection-order matters, 13 other protection-order matters, 8 name changes, 5 replevin cases, and 2 other civil filings. These totals are Logan-specific. They are not the broader district's.

  • Money and other limited civil claims in County Court.
  • Small claims using the S case class.
  • Forcible-entry-and-detainer and replevin cases with short statutory timeframes.
  • Protection-order and name-change matters.
  • Major civil, domestic-relations, and probate work in District Court.

Administrative Order 2013-C treats replevin and forcible-entry-and-detainer as expedited matters, so their hearings can move faster than an ordinary civil action. Read the class, the latest order, and the current setting together when you track a docket entry.

Logan County Civil Docket Filing Paths

Colorado Courts E-Filing is for filing, not for browsing the public case register. Attorneys use the attorney service. A separate system supports certain non-attorney filings: divorce, legal separation, custody, and forcible-entry-and-detainer. An account helps. A supported case category helps too. Still, you do not gain broad public access to every filed image. The hearing docket and the record request stay separate tools. The official non-attorney e-filing page supplies the assigned Logan County civil docket capture:

That official page shows the filing doorway only. Public settings stay in the Judicial Branch docket, and official copies stay with the Combined Courts clerk. One more caution applies. Filing a paper electronically does not guarantee its image is open to every public user.

Hearings on the Civil Docket

A civil calendar setting tells you when and where a proceeding happens. It might be a motion hearing, a protection-order hearing, a small-claims trial, or another event. The listed duration is a planned block, not a promise of when things end. Check the appearance type and courtroom. A blank appearance field does not authorize remote attendance. Webex requires prior court approval. A continuance moves a setting. Yet the earlier entry can remain in the ROA as history. Calling the clerk does not itself grant one; the judge must decide a proper request. Search again close to the hearing. Read the latest notice or order. Call the clerk if the Logan County civil docket shows two conflicting entries. The Logan County court schedule walks through each calendar field.

Logan County Civil Docket Routing

Seven counties in northeastern Colorado make up the 13th Judicial District. Administrative Order 2013-C sets its routing rules. Logan and Morgan serve as “home counties” for routine district docket work. Expedited civil assignments get divided among the judges seated there. Civil matters are also assigned at random across District Court divisions. So a judicial officer based in Sterling can end up handling routine docket work that crosses county lines.

None of that changes the filing county printed on a Logan County civil docket. Before trusting a result, confirm the county. Check the courthouse, the court level, the case class, and the division too. County Court appeals move up to District Court. Most ordinary District Court appeals go to the Colorado Court of Appeals. A transfer or an appeal opens a new docket in the receiving court. The older ROA keeps the notice, transfer, or mandate event on record.

Who Can See Civil Dockets

Plenty of civil dockets and court records are open to the public. Still, the clerk applies court rules, statutes, directives, and any case-specific orders. Nothing gets handed over before that review. Expect limits or redactions too. Protected family content, juvenile material, confidential probate information, sealed filings, and personal identifiers all fall under them. Suppressed, probate, or protected records may require government-issued photo identification. And keep one thing in mind. A missing calendar entry proves nothing about whether a case or document exists.

Colorado access framework:

Chief Justice Directive 05-01 resources govern access to Judicial Branch case records.

Public Access to Information and Records Rule 2 concerns judicial administrative records, a distinct category from case files.

Colorado Open Records Act governs many public records but is not a substitute for the court case-record rules.

Access calls and the official paper always come from the originating court. A commercial convenience result is not the official court record, if one is used at all, and it may leave out cases or fields.

Official Logan County Civil Docket Copies

Start with the Record/Document Request Form. It offers an ROA plus civil checkboxes for an Order for Judgment, Transcript of Judgment, Satisfaction of Judgment, and Protection Order. Family options cover a decree, parenting plan, separation agreement, support order, and petition. Probate options run from letters and a will to trusts, applications, petitions, closings, claims, and a date-of-death field. Pick the narrowest record that answers your need.

Copying runs 25 cents per page single-sided and 50 cents double-sided. Certification or exemplification adds $20 per document. A Transcript of Judgment costs $25, and a Certificate of Satisfaction costs $20. Party and party-attorney copies are capped at $15 per case. The schedule lists no cap for nonparties. Off-site retrieval bills at actual cost. Qualifying research or redaction runs $30 per hour in quarter-hour increments after the first hour.

The clerk ordinarily answers within three business days absent extenuating circumstances, per the form. That is not a completion guarantee for stored files, redaction, or restricted material. Remember that an ROA is an index, not the signed judgment behind it.

For an in-person Logan County civil docket request, bring the case number if you have it. Name the exact order, judgment, petition, or date range you want. Ask for a cost quote before copies are run. Mail or delivery arrangements follow the clerk's review. So confirm the right method for the particular file with the court.
